How to log a transaction (best practice)
- Merchant: use a consistent name (e.g., “Tesco” not “TESCO 123”).
- Tags: pick 1–2 categories max to keep charts clean.
- Notes: optional — add context if it helps (e.g., “lunch w/ friends”).
Monthly review (10 minutes)
- In the dashboard, check This month.
- Look at Spending by category to spot the biggest drivers.
- Pick one small change for next month (e.g., cap takeaways, reduce subscriptions).
Notes on the free plan
- This template only uses view types available on the Notion free plan (no charts, formulas, or automations required).
- The “dashboard” is just saved database views — keep them when duplicating.

Tip: Consistency beats detail. A simple log you actually maintain is more valuable than a perfect system you don't.
